Engineers at Bihrle play a critical role in the success of the business by providing quality services to our customers, developing new technologies, and advancing the state of the art through research. Engineers are exposed to a wide range of interesting projects related to aircraft flight dynamics, including aerodynamic source data collection (via wind tunnel testing, flight testing, and computational tools), stability & control analysis, collision avoidance & flight trajectory optimizations, and mathematical modeling of the aircraft flight physics and sub-systems for simulation applications. Engineers at Bihrle also have opportunities to contribute to aerospace software tool development, engage in a range of hands-on projects with UAS auto-pilots, sensors and system components, and put their entrepreneurial talents to task on in-house research & development projects.
Your Role
As an aero engineer at Bihrle, you will be part of a team that is responsible for the development of flight-related algorithms and mathematical models of aircraft flight dynamics and various aircraft systems. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic who is capable of working comfortably within a dynamic team environment. Specific responsibilities may include:
- Develop aerodynamics models using a variety of source data, including wind tunnel test data, CFD data and data generated using computational methods (e.g., vortex lattice)
- Develop, test and debug aerospace system algorithms in relevant modeling and simulation settings
- Document project milestones, systems description and analysis results
- Provide technical information for marketing and management reviews
- Support proposal formulation, preparations and reviews
- Support flight testing and flight data analysis
- Develop control/autonomy algorithms and implement them for runtime (C/C++)
- Develop or update aircraft simulation flight models and components
- Develop, document, test and debug flight simulation software
- Develop test plans and support flight test activities for the purpose of collecting data sets for use in flight model development and validation.
- Plan and coordinate flight simulation software development activities
- Assist in the development of new simulation technologies, methods and algorithms
- Interact with customers, the engineering team, software developers and project management staff
